California Riding!

Hard to believe that it's been so long since we last posted, but we haven't just been sluggos. We've actually been out a lot, enjoying the Californing weather and working those hills. With the two boys in the trailer, it's an extra 70+ pounds, but we've been out running AND riding many times. So long as I can keep Isaac from hitting his brother, we can tolerate up to about 2 hours (most of which is spent sleeping on the boys' part) before a total meltdown.

As far as solo rides, I have a few options: (1) every now and then my lovely wife gives me the nod on the weekend to take a 2-3 hour ride on my own or (2) commute to work. I made it out this past weekend for #1 and had a smokin' ride down Santa Rosa rode and into Camarillo (on Las Posas) before I turned around into a nasty headwind. Yesterday (Tuesday), I got up early and was on the road by 6:15 (just as it was getting light) and made it to work in 1 hour 6 minutes. At the end of the day, I saddled up at about 5:30 and made it home in 1 hour 11 minutes. So instead of a 1 hour commute, I had a 2 hour 17 minute commute and 2 great workouts. Here's the 21 mile route (one way):

It's about time to start getting serious about training and sending out some notes for solicitations on the MS Bike Ride... so the BLOG is now FULL SPEED AHEAD!
