Sicko

I ran my 15 miles this AM, but it wasn't pretty. My breathing was controlled, but that's about the only thing that felt good. My legs felt sluggish and my average heartrate for the effort was 166, too high. I held back better in the first 7, sticking on my 8:45 pace, but I must have slowed down considerably, because my average for the full 15 miles was about an 8:56.

It could have just been a rough day, but I'm struggling with the longer mileage and keeping to the 8:45 pace. Next week is supposed to be 20 miles, but I'll probably go 17-18. I need some success at that distance before I go 20. It wasn't that hot (probably 70 degrees or so), but I lost a lot of salt and was entirely too crusty. Even with the Hammer Gels, I don't think I had sufficient electrolyte replacement. I weighed in at 169.4 after the run and think I was about 174.5 prior - I wasn't drinking enough fluids.

I ate as soon as I came home, but I felt spacey and nauseous. The headache came shortly thereafter and I was convinced I had a migraine. I took some medication and passed out for two hours. I awoke and was still weak and sporting a headache, but it wasn't a migraine. I've eaten a bit more and continue to take in fluids, but I'm going to have to take it easy today.

On a positive note, my knee didn't bother me.
