Ok, so here we are, having raised over $11k and still 2 MONTHS to go until all contributions have to be submitted to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and I am asking myself if we (yes, the collective "we") could get to $15k. This is one of those scenarios where WE could be satisfied and feel accomplished having reached our goal of $10k (and we have a lot to feel good about - don't get me wrong), OR we could establish a new goal and PUSH HARD.
I've been recently inspired by an article I read in Triathlon Life by cartoonist and triathlete Jef Mallett, creator of "Frazz". I don't have the article in front of me, but he made some comment about how sponsoring him to compete in a swim (he was doing a fundraising swim event) was kind of like paying his cat to eat tuna. While I agree that I'd ride the MS Bike Tour regardless of whether my sponsors contributed or not, one of my consistent and very generous sponsors (Ken R.) made the comment that "I appreciate you riding so I don't have to - I'd rather write the checks!" It takes both types of people - riders and sponsors. I recognize my part in the equation (as outlined in the comic strip below), but I also GREATLY APPRECIATE all of your generosity.
So, what do you think, should we push towards $15k?For those of you wanting to learn more about Jef Mallett, check out this interview that I found on the web.
