From Migraines to Mileage

Haven't been traveling much on business lately, so the training is becoming a bit more consistent. Solomon and I got out on Sunday for just over 1.5 hours. Not a ton of mileage, but it felt fairly good and he was happy not to have to share the Chariot with his big brother. We took off from the house and headed to Simi Valley, made a loop and returned home.

On Tuesdsay, the family watched Isaac enjoy his second official swim lesson (I'm not the only one training) at the Moorpark Athletic Club and he still had energy to burn afterwards, so he and Solomon went to daycare while I hit the treadmill for about 5 miles of interval work. Unfortunately, I overdid it and gave myself a migraine.

I had a date with the Seminis Mavericks for a Wednesday ride after work and I felt compelled to keep it. I'm glad that I did! We met in Newbury Park at the National Park Service parking lot off of Portrero Road and Via Goleta and headed towards WestLake Village up Portrero. John claimed I set a "blistering pace" from the start (I think he was blowin' smoke), but after climbing a ~3% grade successfully for 5-10 minutes, both he and Koby dropped me when the grade increased to about 6%. I'VE GOTTA WORK THOSE HILLS MORE! We took the scenic route via via Lake Sherwood, took a left on WestLake Village Blvd., a right on Triunfo Canyon and stayed right on Lindero Canyon until will hit Agoura Road - which we took until Kaanan Road, where we turned around and headed back. Here's the ROUTE.

My legs were pretty fried towards the end, but it was a good 33 miles or so. Not bad for a Wednesday night.
